Even his white dog, which he always keeps by his side, reflects the savagery of his character. He shows no remorse and, at his greatest breaking point, turns into a beast who has completely lost his humanity when he brutally murders Nancy simply for speaking to the police. While trying to escape justice, he accidentally lets the noose drape over his own neck and falls from a rooftop to his death.
