He describes events in the sky with his own artistic vision and imagination. He is a poetic figure who doesn't care much for the laws of physics, focuses on living the moment and beauty, and keeps the group's morale cheerful.
As known from the first book of the original series, he is a famous polymath and traveler from Paris. Upon coming to America, he was welcomed with enthusiasm and possessed a nature that jumped into the most dangerous, even lethal, wagers just for the sake of adventure.
