The most loyal, but also the most savage and terrifying enforcer of the Corleone family. Aside from Don Vito Corleone, he fears no one and respects no one. He is a psychopath so dehumanized that he would throw his own newborn child into a furnace alive. He is the family's biggest trump card against enemies. When Don Corleone sends him to infiltrate the Tattaglia family, he is lured into a trap and killed by Sollozzo and his men, who garrote him. His death is the first major sign of how serious the war is.
In his past, he threw his own baby by an Irish prostitute into a furnace alive as soon as it was born, then killed the woman as well. While in prison, he attempted suicide by cutting his throat with glass but was saved from the gallows by Don Corleone's intervention, binding him to lifelong obedience.
Short, stocky, large-headed, with a chillingly savage and blank facial expression. Death can be read in his eyes.
Vito Corleone
The only god for him. He has dedicated his entire existence to him.
Virgil Sollozzo
The cunning enemy into whose trap he fell.
