Despite having no money in his pocket at the start and looking disheveled, he had one single purpose: to become Thomas Edison's business partner. He started as an ordinary, very low-paid assistant, but he did not give up. When everyone else gave up on selling the Edison Dictating Machine, he saw the opportunity, used it to sell the machine across the entire country, and not only became very wealthy but concretely proved that one can 'get rich by thinking.'
He is a penniless young man. He arrived at the Edison facility in East Orange, New Jersey, like a poor drifter, having traveled by train in a freight car without money. He had no education or capital, but with a burning desire within him, he vowed even before he set out that he would make that great man (Edison) accept him not as an ordinary laborer, but as a partner.
A man whose clothing was ragged when he first met Edison, looking like a mere drifter from the outside; however, there is an unwavering determination and blazing, mission-focused eyes in his gaze.
