A goddess and sorceress with beautiful braids, daughter of the Sun God Helios, living on the island of Aiaie. She is famous for turning strangers who land on her island into swine with her magical potion. She turns Odysseus's companions into swine as well, but falls in love with him after Odysseus remains immune to her magic thanks to the 'moly' herb given by Hermes. She hosts Odysseus and his men on her island for a year, then guides them on their departure by telling them they must descend into the underworld (Hades).
She is the daughter of Helios and Perse. She lives on the island of Aiaie, surrounded by wild wolves and lions she had previously enchanted and tamed.
