Son of Eupeithes. He respects neither the laws of hospitality nor fears the gods. He is the one who set the ambush to kill Telemakhos. He refuses bread to Odysseus, who comes to the palace disguised as a beggar, and instead throws a stool at him. Because of his arrogance and brutality, he is the first suitor killed, struck in the throat by Odysseus's arrow.
