He is the lively, restless head secretary of the Gun-Club. After a mortar shattered, he left a part of his body on the battlefield but never lost his endless love for artillery. He approaches events with an utterly extremist appetite. He craves jumping into any danger and loves being choked by the smoke of the largest cannon available. He is Barbicane's most loyal sidekick, and when the projectile is launched, he is the one who monitors them with hope and sadness from his telescope on Earth, unable to join them to the Moon.
During the American Civil War, he was present for the testing of a massive cannon, but lost an arm and a significant part of his skull in the ensuing disaster. He replaced them with a hard rubber skull cap and an iron hook. As a living legend of disabled gunners, he holds a unique place in the Gun-Club.
He has a body shaped by the remnants of artillery fire. He wears an iron hook on one arm, and since a portion of his skull is missing, it has been repaired with hard plastic/rubber. Despite his physical shortcomings, he is an incredibly dynamic and restless figure.
Michel Ardan
His cavalier and wild aura aligns perfectly with his own swashbuckling enthusiasm; he has a great deal of sympathy for him.
Kaptan Nicholl
At first, he loathes him due to the danger he poses to Barbicane, but later adapts to an atmosphere of forced peace.
Impey Barbicane
He worships the President's decisions and cause to the point of literally disregarding his own life.
