In her youth, while still a pure girl, she was taken by her guardian Totsky and reduced to the status of a 'kept woman.' With her extraordinary, dazzling beauty, intelligence, and dignified stance, she never forgot the injustice done to her; she constantly kept Totsky under threat and mocked the hypocrisy of society. When she finds the pure love she sought in the Prince, she does crazy things to avoid sacrificing such a clean soul to her own dark destiny. She derives a senseless carnal or painful pleasure from harming both herself and those around her with great pride. Her end is completed by the catastrophe she has always been pursued by: being killed by Rogojin.
Born as the daughter of a small landowner, she became an orphan after losing her family and property in a fire. Totsky, a wealthy landowner in his fifties, took Nastasya when she was a pure young girl, raised her according to his own whims, and degraded her to the level of a 'harlot.' When Nastasya became an educated adult woman, she realized this situation and a massive rebellion grew within her against Totsky and the whole world.
She has an incredibly wonderful beauty; she is an elegant woman with a pale face, deep gaze, dark black eyes, light-brown hair, and delicate features. She wears simple black, yet always very stylish, silk dresses.
Rogojin
He is the brute force that attempts to buy her with money, whom she sees as a dark fate and death.
Totskiy
He is the true enemy who blackened her youth; she hates this man who both used her and then tried to discard her.
Prens Mışkin
The only light in her life, the only pure being. She does not deem herself worthy of him.
