Data controller
This policy applies to the BeinStory website and mobile application ("Service"). The party operating the Service is Meybrain. You can review company information and contact details at meybrain.com/tr.
You can submit your requests regarding privacy and the processing of personal data to [email protected]; your applications will be evaluated within the scope of the legislation.
Data collected
- Account: name, email address; the password is only stored as a secure hash and is not kept in plain text.
- Usage and content: the books you select, messages you send to characters and in group chats, chat history, and session-related interactions.
- Payment (if applicable): for subscriptions or token purchases, the payment process is conducted through the payment provider; card information is not stored on our servers.
- Technical: IP address, browser or application version, device type, error logs, and session identifiers necessary for security.
- Voice calls: the duration and time of the call and the transcribed text of what was said; the audio recording itself is not stored (see the "Voice calls" section below).
- Advertising and measurement: advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android) and app events; see the "Advertising and measurement" section below.
Artificial intelligence and third parties
To generate chat responses, your text may be transmitted to structured service providers (e.g., cloud or AI APIs). This transfer is carried out solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service; we do not sell your collected data to third parties for marketing purposes. We ensure data security within the framework of contracts with our infrastructure providers.
Voice calls
You can talk to characters out loud. This feature only runs when you start a call, and no audio is processed unless you grant microphone access.
- Your audio recording is not stored. Audio from your microphone is streamed to our provider in real time to be transcribed, and is not retained by us once the call ends.
- The text of the conversation is stored. What you say and what the character replies are saved, as text, to your chat history. This is so the character can remember the conversation later — when you write to them, or on your next call. These texts are kept for at most 180 days and are deleted at the end of that period; only the fact that a call took place and how long it lasted remains in your chat. They are deleted sooner if you delete the chat or your account.
- Call details are stored. The duration, date, which character you spoke with, and technical measurements used to monitor service quality (latency, consumption) are recorded. We use this for billing, abuse prevention and improving the Service.
- Third parties. Voice calls rely on providers that transcribe your speech, generate the reply, and synthesise the character's voice, as well as an infrastructure provider that carries the audio. These providers' servers may be located abroad; data is transferred solely to deliver the call and under contractual safeguards.
- Deletion. When you delete a chat or your account, the conversation texts belonging to that chat are deleted as far as legal retention obligations allow.
If you would rather not use voice calls, simply do not start one — text chat works independently of this feature.
Mobile application
When you use the Android or iOS application, the same account and chat data are processed. In-app preferences may be stored on your device or associated with your account. As required by store policies, the privacy link you share must display this page; the content may be updated regularly.
Advertising and measurement
In the mobile app we work with two partners to show ads and to measure how our advertising performs:
- Google AdMob — displaying ads inside the app.
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — measuring the results of our app advertising and improving campaigns.
Data processed for this purpose and shared with these partners:
- Advertising identifier — IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android. A device-level identifier that you can reset.
- App events — opening the app, completing registration, viewing a plan or pack, initiating checkout, and purchases.
- Purchase information — the type and amount of the package purchased. Your card details are never shared.
- Matching information — your email address and user ID are sent in irreversibly hashed form; they are never shared in plain text.
This data is used only to measure who our ads reach and to reach a relevant audience. We do not sell your data to anyone.
Your choice. On iOS you are asked for tracking permission the first time you open the app; if you decline, your advertising identifier is not shared. You can change this later under Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. On Android you can reset your advertising ID or turn off personalised ads in your device settings.
Purposes and retention
- Account creation, authentication, and responding to your support requests.
- Providing the chat experience, ensuring security, and preventing abuse.
- Data retention within the framework of legal obligations and legitimate interests.
- Deletion or anonymization of data upon account deletion or your request, to the extent permitted by legal requirements.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies or local storage necessary to maintain your session and remember your preferences may be used. We do not use advertising cookies on the website. In the mobile app, an advertising identifier and app events are processed to show ads and measure advertising performance; see the "Advertising and measurement" section above. We do not sell your data to anyone.
